Bonnie Anderson

Wood Mosaics

Artist Bio:

Bonnie Anderson crafts mosaics made out of wood, which she cuts and sands in small batches. Her designs are created by selecting shapes that become part of a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork. She loves working with color, choosing from over 400 hues to give life to her designs. She enjoys up-cycling old furniture with “good bones” and using wood that others discard as scrap.

Bonnie started Practical Pieces as a hobby business in 2006. After moving from Lynn, Massachusetts, where she had lived since birth, Bonnie retired from teaching high school biology and now lives in Tamworth, New Hampshire.

Artist Statement:

The wooden pieces I use to create my designs are randomly cut. I cut scrap pieces of wood into random shapes and individually sand each piece. Then, I create mosaic-style designs from whatever shapes I have ready. I usually work in batches of 300 or more pieces of wood at a time.
