Robert Gordon, a well known and beloved local artist and personality, left us far too soon. Bob studied at Montserrat School of Art and the Southern Vermont Arts Center, exhibited with the Marblehead Arts Assoc., Swampscott Arts Assoc., Lynn Arts and North Shore Arts Assoc. among others in Massachusetts before moving to the Mt. Washington Valley in 1980 where he really found his creative home. With Mother Nature as his guide, Bob could often be seen, paint filled backpack, canvas and easel strapped across, with his faithful dog, “Champney” at his heels headed off into the back woods to a favorite spot by a stream, beneath a snow capped peak or on a rocky crag ever ready to capture the light! He was a veteran painter en plein air, his preferred place to be away from the bustle-quiet, serene, at peace.
